Supported Living
For the people we serve, living in the community is a powerful statement, a monumental accomplishment, a huge step toward independence, and a part of every day life.
Having a home to call one’s own is of tremendous importance. It symbolizes completeness, maturity, and independence. For most of us, the defining moment of independence is when we leave the nest, move out, and live on our own. This is even more true of the people served by ROI; for them, living in the community is not just a powerful statement, a monumental accomplishment, and a huge step toward independence, but also a part of every day life. It’s a goal we work hard to help people achieve.

Help Where It’s Needed
With ROI’s Supported Living Alternatives (SLA) program, people with severe disabilities are living more independent lives in the community in homes they own or rent. Trained, qualified ROI staff provide assistance where it is needed to ensure the greatest degree of independence possible. Whether it’s providing transportation, dispensing medication, assisting with a bath, arranging a doctor’s appointment, or helping with simple housework, ROI’s SLA staff are here to help it happen.

Community is More Than a Place
We are dedicated to the concept of community inclusion. That means we work as advocates, facilitators, and liaisons to help the people we serve become active and respected in the larger community. This approach and attitude is part of everything we do.
