History Enhancement Ministries, Incorporated (EMI) was founded in 1995 and recognized by the IRS as a 501c3, faith-based nonprofit in 1998. EMI embraces principles that promote learning opportunities for individuals and families to increase their participation in strengthening the communities in which they live and work. 
EMI's History Includes: - Designed and implemented the Teen As Leaders© sports camp curriculum, in partnership with the Kalamazoo County Family YMCA, to introduce at-risk youth and teens to civic leadership and community service. Over 200 youth and teens participated during the 2002 Teen As Leaders sports program (2001 – present)
- Developed and administered the “Redemptive Reading” program (2002-2003)
- Established the Enhancement Ministries Scholarship Endowment Fund at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation (1998), for non-traditional and at-risk, adult students. Annual scholarships continue to be awarded through a competitive application process.
- Designed and implemented homework sessions for youth and teens in collaboration with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church (1995-2000)
